Partnerships deliver lasting legacy at Tōmoana Showgrounds
A new fence around the main oval at Tōmoana Showgrounds is a practical and visible example of what can be achieved through the Tōmoana Kaitiaki Programme, a partnership model focused on protecting, improving and strengthening one of Hawke’s Bay’s most important community venues.
The main oval is one of the taonga of Tōmoana Showgrounds. It is home to a wide range of equestrian events, sporting fixtures and concerts, and plays a central role in bringing the community together.

The installation of the new fence will help protect this important space while also supporting more sustainable and successful events in the future. By improving the oval's functionality and security, the project helps reduce barriers for event organisers and community groups using the venue.
This project was made possible through the support of several partners.
Tumu Timbers supplied the timber for the fence, NDP Contracting and Earthworks completed the installation, and Farm Gear Rural in Puketapu provided logistical support for the project.
Their contribution is a strong example of the impact the Tōmoana Kaitiaki Programme can deliver when businesses and community-minded organisations come together behind a shared vision.
The programme is designed to create meaningful partnerships that contribute to the long-term future of Tōmoana Showgrounds, ensuring the venue remains functional, welcoming and fit for purpose for generations to come.
This fencing project reflects the kind of collaborative investment that will shape the future of Tōmoana Showgrounds: practical support, shared pride, and partnerships that leave a lasting legacy.
Tōmoana Showgrounds sincerely thanks Tumu Timbers, NDP Contracting and Earthworks, and Farm Gear Rural for helping bring this project to life.
