Equestrian Month at Tomoana: Five Championships, 700 Horses, and an Outstanding March

March was a huge month at Tomoana Showgrounds, with five major equestrian championships successfully hosted across a busy and exciting few weeks.

We were proud to welcome competitors, supporters, officials, and families from right across New Zealand for an incredible run of events:

  • Hawke’s Bay Showing Championships

  • Hawke’s Bay Dressage Autumn Series 1

  • RAS NZ Showing Championships

  • NZ Mounted Games Championships

  • Air Napier Show Hunter Championships

Across the month, a total of 700 horses visited Tomoana, transforming the grounds into a vibrant hub of equestrian sport and activity. From early morning preparations to championship presentations, the showgrounds were alive with energy, professionalism, and community spirit.

It was a full-on few weeks, but also a fantastic showcase of what makes Tomoana such a special venue. Riders and supporters from all over the country were treated to beautiful Hawke’s Bay weather, quality competition, and the unique atmosphere of our grounds.

Hosting five successful championships in one month is no small feat, and it reflects the strength of the equestrian community that continues to support Tomoana. Events like these not only bring together riders across multiple disciplines, but also highlight the importance of having a venue that can cater to top-level competition while still delivering a welcoming experience for everyone involved.

A huge thank you goes to the organising committees, volunteers, sponsors, judges, officials, exhibitors, riders, and supporters who helped make the month such a success. Your hard work and commitment are what keep these events thriving.

March was a brilliant celebration of equestrian sport at Tomoana, and we are proud to have played host to so many memorable moments over the month.
